FREETOWN – The Association of Music Producers and Engineers – Sierra Leone (AMPE-SL) has released letters and WhatsApp messages to debunk claims by Entertainment Ambassador Kao Denero that he was never approached for an independence song project.

In an official public notice, the association said it made several attempts to engage the ambassador’s office for the project titled “Together We Rise.” These included contacting his Public Relations Officer, reaching out through the association’s vice president, and sending formal invitations via WhatsApp from both the Public Relations Officer and the Secretary General.

A letter dated 8 April 2026 addressed to the Entertainment Ambassador requested his collaboration, stating that his involvement would add national significance to the production. WhatsApp messages from 9 April 2026 show the Secretary General informing the ambassador that the letter had been sent and asking him to confirm receipt.

The association said no response was ever received from the ambassador’s office and that it maintains records of all communications.

“We proceeded with our activities, understanding that the ambassador may have been engaged with other commitments,” the notice read. “We remain open to future collaboration.”

On 22 April 2026, Kao Denero’s office issued a public statement saying there had been “no official letter, no text message, no phone call, and no direct or indirect communication” regarding his involvement in the song. The ambassador called for transparency and professionalism, adding that public statements should be verified before being made.

AMPE-SL said it holds the ambassador in high regard and remains committed to collaboration for the advancement of the entertainment industry.

Efforts to reach the ambassador’s office for further comment were not immediately successful.
