FREETOWN – The Sierra Leone Commercial Motor Bike Riders Union (SLCMBRU) has strongly condemned an alleged act of sexual harassment and penetration reportedly committed by its Eastern Region Organizing Secretary, Mr. Tejan Swaray, at a hotel in Bo City.
In a press release dated 13th May 2026, the union’s National Secretariat totally disassociated the entire membership and leadership from the alleged incident.
“As a responsible and law-abiding institution, the union does not condone any form of sexual violence, harassment, abuse, or misconduct against women or any member of society,” the statement read.
The union described the alleged act as “entirely personal” and said it does not represent the views, conduct, or character of the union or its membership across the country.
According to the release, the matter is currently under investigation by the appropriate authorities. The union encouraged the Sierra Leone Police and all relevant institutions to conduct a fair, transparent, and impartial investigation to ensure justice prevails.
The National Secretariat reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the integrity and good image of the union.
