FREETOWN – Former Leone Stars captain and recently released head coach Mohamed Kallon has confirmed that he has applied for the senior national men’s team head coach position.

Kallon stated that the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) received his application through the General Secretary and via official email.

“The advertisement of the head coach vacancy for the senior national men’s team is an administrative procedure,” Kallon said. “For the record, as a licensed coach, it’s professional standard and compliance to submit my application and credentials through the official process. This is about following procedures.”

Kallon, who remains one of Sierra Leone’s most iconic football figures, added: “Despite all the ramifications and challenges, I will always put Mama Salone first.”

His application comes as the SLFA confirmed that 79 candidates — including only three locals — are vying for the position.
