FREETOWN – Sierra Leone’s Entertainment Ambassador, Amara Dennis Turay, known as Kao Denero, has said he was never approached to take part in an independence song titled “Together We Rise,” disputing claims made by the head of a music producers’ association.
In a public statement issued on 22 April 2026, the ambassador’s office responded to what it said were claims by Lordmo De Goldenfingers, president of the Association of Music Producers and Engineers in Sierra Leone (AMPESL). According to the ambassador, Lordmo De Goldenfingers stated during two separate radio interviews that Kao Denero had been invited to join the project alongside other artists.
The ambassador’s office said no invitation was ever extended.
“There has been no official letter, no text message, no phone call, and no direct or indirect communication with the ambassador concerning his involvement,” the statement read.
Kao Denero called for transparency and professionalism, adding that public figures should verify their statements before going on air. He said his office remains open to meaningful collaboration but only when approached through proper channels.
The ambassador urged the public to take note of his clarification.
