FREETOWN — The main opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) has confirmed that a high-level delegation met with President Julius Maada Bio at State House on Tuesday, 5th May 2026, in what the party describes as a necessary step for national stability and democratic consolidation.

In a press statement dated 6th May, the APC said the delegation was led by its Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Alhaji Osman Foday Yansaneh.

According to the party, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to fully implement key agreements, including the 8-Point Communiqué of the International Moral Guarantors, the Tripartite Committee Recommendations, and the Agreement for National Unity.

The APC described the engagement as constructive but cautioned that dialogue must move beyond symbolism.

“Such engagements must go beyond symbolism and translate into tangible actions that address the concerns of the ordinary Sierra Leonean people,” the statement read.

The party assured its members and the public that its participation does not weaken its role as a vigilant opposition. It called on the government to demonstrate sincerity and political will by implementing reforms within clear timelines.

The APC said it remains open to continued dialogue provided it is anchored on sincerity, mutual respect, good faith, and measurable outcomes.
