Sierra Lone Parliament Elected to serve as West African representative of CSPOC standing committee from 2026 – 2028.
The Sierra Leone parliament has successfully achieved a significant milestone of being elected as West Africans’ representation of the standing committee of the conference of speakers and presiding officers of the common wealth.
The recognition was given to the Sierra Leone parliament during the 28th conference of speakers and presiding officers of the commonwealth, held in New Delhi, India, from January 14th to 17th 2026.
61 speakers and presiding officers from 42 common wealth countries attended the conference and focused on strengthening democratic institutions, modernising parliamentary practices, and promoting citizens’ engagement.
The Sierra Leone delegation to the 28th CPSOC in New Delihi, India, representing the Rt. Hon. Speaker Segepoh Solomon Thomas, comprised Hon. Daniel koroma, Deputy leader of the opposition, Gilbert Bosco N’habay, Deputy clerk of parliament and the Deputy chairman of the mines committee.
The CSPOC was aimed at promoting the emergence of impartial and independent presiding offices, promoting parliamentary democracy, and strengthening institutions across member states.
