The High Court of Sierra Leone has issued an interim injunction barring Alhaji Osman Foday Yansaneh and Lansana Dumbuya from representing themselves as executive members of the All Peoples Congress (APC). The ex parte ruling, delivered on August 27, 2026, by Justice A. Fisher, follows a motion by plaintiffs Alfred Peter Conteh and Hon. Mohamed Sheridan Kamara challenging the legitimacy of the party’s current leadership.
The court was told that the executives’ three-year mandate expired on February 13, 2026, and was subsequently extended for six months by the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC). The plaintiffs argued this extension was unlawful because it improperly attempted to transfer managerial authority without adhering to the party constitution.
Justice Fisher found that damages would not be an adequate remedy and that the balance of convenience favored halting the alleged unlawful conduct. The order suspends all actions taken by the current executive since August 19, 2026, and requires the defendants to refrain from carrying out any party duties until the matter is fully heard.
The case has been adjourned to August 31, 2026, for an inter partes hearing.
