Fifty small and medium-sized enterprises have graduated from the READY Salone E-Commerce Programme, an initiative aimed at helping Sierra Leonean businesses expand their operations and reach customers through digital platforms.
The graduation ceremony, held at the New Brookfields Hotel in Freetown, followed a six-month programme implemented by the International Trade Centre (ITC) in partnership with relevant government ministries. The programme concluded in July 2026.
The programme provided participating businesses with training and practical coaching in e-commerce strategy, online operations, social media marketing and the use of digital tools to attract and engage customers.
Trainers said the programme went beyond theoretical training, with participants receiving one-on-one coaching and practical support to implement e-commerce strategies within their businesses.
Some of the graduating SMEs said the programme helped them establish stronger online business presence through platforms including WhatsApp Business, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Google Business.
Participants also reported improvements in customer engagement, access to new markets and the use of tools such as online catalogues, quick replies and dedicated business communication channels.
Programme advisors urged the graduates to sustain the gains made by continuously learning, monitoring their online performance and adapting to emerging digital platforms.
The International Trade Centre says 50 small businesses graduated from the READY Salone e-commerce program during its recent visit to Sierra Leone.
