One of the APC flagbearer aspirants, Ady Maculay, has, on Saturday, October 25th, paid an unannounced visit to Waterloo, Tombo, and other coastal communities around the outskirts of Freetown. According to lawyer Ady Maculay, the visit was to interact with the people, to connect with them and to listen to their problems and challenges they faced in the coastal areas.

During his visit he noticed that the living conditions of many Sierra Leoneans in that part of the country are characterised by widespread poverty, with significant challenges in accessing adequate clean water, hygiene and food. And their high unemployment rate, particularly among the youths, poor infrastructure, and environmental degradation also contribute to a difficult standard of living.

On the part of the traders, they raised many challenge they faced in the trade sector. One among them is limited access to finance; many traders cannot access formal credit due to high interest rates, strict collateral requirements, short repayment terms, and complex procedures, which they said is affecting the growth and development of traders.

Speaking on behalf of the fishermen at tombo community, the harbour master Alusine kanu highlighted the crucial role they plays in Sierra leone’s economy and the challenges they have in the small scale fishing sector which includes inadequate capture, processing, storage facilities, transport and wash practices and infrastructure which he says hinders their operations

After he had listened to the various concerns raised by residents of these communities. In his remarks, lawyer Ady Maculay commended them for the resilience they have shown all these past years and assured them that he would factor all their concerns into his manifesto document and promised to address all those challenges when he eventually becomes the president of Sierra Leone.
