APC SETS 30 JUNE FOR CONSTITUENCY POLLS BUT HOLDS BACK AREAS UNDER REVIEW

Sierra Leone’s main opposition party, the All People’s Congress (APC), has announced that its constituency elections will commence on Tuesday 30 June 2026 – but says the directive does not apply to constituencies where ward elections are currently being reviewed by the Independent Elections Complaints Board (IECB) following petitions.

The party confirmed the date in a public notice issued on Saturday 14 June 2026 by its National Secretary General, Lansana Dumbuya, Esq.

According to the notice, the decision follows the publication of the Constituency Register of Eligible Voters (CREVs) on the APC’s official website on Sunday 8 June 2026, in line with Article 54(h) of the APC Constitution (2022).

Elections in the affected constituencies, the party said, will be rescheduled once the review process is completed and necessary directives are issued by party authorities.

The APC described the constituency elections as a critical milestone in strengthening its internal democratic governance and urged all aspirants, delegates and members to work with the Independent Elections Management Committee (IEMC) to ensure the process is free, fair, peaceful and transparent.

The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) and the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) have also been informed accordingly.
