SIX CONTAINERS OF SUSPECTED KUSH SEIZED IN MAJOR FREETOWN WEST POLICE OPERATION

Police in Freetown West have intercepted what appears to be one of the largest kush consignments seized in the region this year, following a coordinated intelligence-led operation that resulted in the capture of six containers of dried leaves suspected to be the illicit substance.

The operation, carried out under the direct command of AIG Sylvester M. N. Koroma,  unfolded across several locations after officers acted on timely intelligence. The haul includes three barrels and three cartons, now secured as police exhibits.

According to police officials, two barrels were discovered inside a Serena vehicle (registration ALA-080) driven by Yussif Sesay, who was detained at the scene. A third barrel was intercepted from a Toyota taxi (API-156) at the Adonkia Cemetery in Goderich, though the driver fled before officers could apprehend him.

In a follow-up search, officers uncovered three cartons of suspected kush at a nearby residence believed to belong to a woman known as Patricia, who is currently being sought by police.

Preliminary questioning revealed that Yussif Sesay claimed he had been contracted by one Abdul Rahman Sesay to transport the barrels. Both men are now in police custody as investigations widen. Police say efforts are underway to track down the taxi driver who escaped the scene.

All seized materials have been transferred to the police forensic laboratory for analysis.

AIG Koroma said the operation represents a “significant disruption” to drug trafficking networks operating in Freetown West, emphasizing the region’s renewed commitment to tackling the kush trade, which has devastated communities across Sierra Leone.
