Sierra Leone’s Chief Justice, His Lordship, Honourable Justice Komba Kamanda, has commissioned four justices of the High Court of Sierra Leone to five district headquarters to expedite trial of one hundred and seventy-four (174) criminal cases.

This step is an effort to reduce the plethora of prolonged cases in the provinces that go unattended for, thus affecting the justice system in the country.

The four judges assigned to the provinces are as follows: Hon. Justice Augustine K. Musa, who is presently in Kono, will move to Kabala on the 27th. Hon. Justice Abu Bakarr Sannoh is currently in Magburaka, while Hon. Justice Mohamed Bawoh will start the Kambia session on the 27th of February, and lastly, Hon. Justice Banks-Kamara will be in Pujehun on the same date.

Highlighting the challenges affecting expeditions in cases, the Public Relations Officer (1) at the Judiciary of Sierra Leone, Mr. Moses Kamara, states that the current inadequate judges across the country are due to the recent deaths and retirements of judges.

To address this issue, Kamara further added that the Judiciary is making an effort to embark on recruitment to fill the gaps.
