ZAMBIA’S FORMER PRESIDENT, EDGAR LUNGU PASSES AWAY AT 68

Edgar Chagwa Lungu, the former president of Zambia, received the call from the Maker on June 5, 2025.

The 68-year-old visionary was born on November 11, 1956, in Ndola, in the eastern part of Zambia.

He served as President of Zambia for two terms. His first term was from January 26, 2015, to September 13, 2016, when he completed the remainder of President Michael Sata’s term after Sata’s death in October 2014. His second term was from September 13, 2016, to August 24, 2021.

Before his presidency, he was the Minister of Justice and Minister of Defence under President Michael Sata. And in 2013–2014 he was the Secretary-General of the Patriotic Front (PF) party.

He married Esther Lungu in 1986; they have six children.

Two days ago, he was wishing his wife a happy birthday, and now he is no more.

Zambians all over the world are mourning a great leader and a father.
