Over the weekend, Dr. Kaifala Marah, Flagbearer Aspirant of the All People’s Congress Party, APC, held a national dialogue with Paramount Chiefs, Local Council Representatives, and party supporters to where he discussed decentralization of development to the deprived and hard-to-reach communities in various provinces.
In his statement, he showed key findings in their survey which they did recently at Kalian Chiefdom in the Koinadugu district, which he says shows that people of hard-to-reach areas face series of challenges, which includes lack of basic services such as health, quality education, and safe water.
Besides, limited livelihood opportunities, high poverty rates, and issues with food insecurity and sanitation contribute toward a cycle of vulnerability and disadvantage.
Dr. Marah concluded by calling on the attention of the central government to ensure they decentralized development to the provinces and to work in collaboration with paramount chiefs and local authorities to speedily address the felt needs of rural communities.
