Sierra Leone’s U-20 side, the Shooting Stars, have qualified for the semi-finals of the WAFU Zone A U-20 AFCON qualifiers after holding Senegal to a goalless draw in Group B.
The result sets up a semi-final clash with The Gambia’s Baby Scorpions on 25 October.
After drawing their opening match against Mauritania, Sierra Leone needed to avoid defeat against Senegal to secure qualification. Guinea-Bissau’s withdrawal had left only three teams in the group.
The Shooting Stars held firm to claim the point needed to progress, keeping their hopes of reaching the final alive.
Senegal will face an opponent yet to be confirmed in the other semi-final.
