Lawyers representing Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally have demanded the immediate withdrawal and retraction of a public notice issued by the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) National Publicity Secretary, Moses Sellu Mambu, describing the notice as defamatory and ultra vires.
In a letter dated 21 September 2026, Jengo, Sam & Partners said the notice, issued on 19 September, directed SLPP members and the general public not to engage in business or transactions with Tarawally on behalf of, or under the authority of, the party. The lawyers argue that the Publicity Secretary had no authority to issue such a directive and that their client was not subjected to any disciplinary procedure or hearing.
The lawyers maintain that Tarawally remains a registered, fully paid-up member of the SLPP in the category of Grand Chief Patron, with dues paid up to 2028, and a National Delegate who voted at the party’s 2025 National Delegates Conference. They further state that he has never conducted business in the name of, or under the authority of, the SLPP.
Jengo, Sam & Partners have given Mr. Mambu seven days to provide particulars of any alleged prohibited transactions, identify the party organ or officer that authorised the notice, and withdraw and correct the publication, including an apology on the same platforms.
The lawyers warned that failure to comply could result in legal action, including a complaint under Section 44 of the Cyber Security and Crime Act 2021, proceedings for libel and injunctive relief, and complaints before the Political Parties Registration Commission and regional human rights institutions.
