The Independent Police Complaints Board (IPCB), under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, has commenced an investigation into an alleged shooting incident at Kroo Town Road and Bay Community in Freetown.
This follows an incident that escalated between youths of Kossoh Town and Kroo Town over a football match on Sunday, September 13, 2026, with reports of deaths and injuries subsequently circulating on social media.
According to the IPCB, the alleged shooting resulted in the deaths of three unidentified persons and injuries to others.
The Board says the investigation is being conducted pursuant to Regulations 3(1)(c) and 3(1)(d) of the IPCB Regulations, 2013, which provide for investigations into shooting incidents involving police officers and injuries, assaults or wounding allegedly caused by police officers.
The IPCB says the investigation is ongoing and that the public will be kept informed of developments as they occur.
