The leader of the main opposition party replies Chief Ministerโ€™s statement that APC is “unprogressiveโ€.

In a recent interview with AYV, the Chief Minister, David Moinina Sengeh, referred to the leaders of the main opposition party, APC, as โ€œunprogressiveโ€ and that they are not ready to lead this country. He claims that the APC party lacks significant alternative policies that might have an effect on the nation.

โ€œAs President Bio said, they are not good for the country, and thatโ€™s why we will keep working hard to keep them away from the state house,โ€ David Sengeh said.

This prompted Hon. Abdul Kargbo, the leader of the APC party, to respond to his statement.ย In his response, he referred to the Chief Ministerโ€™s comment as irresponsible and reckless.

He continued by saying that the present administration’s leadership is incapable to effectively handle criticism, but that due to the APC’s adept handling of criticism during its time in office, inflation never reached 54%.

In order to demonstrate the current government’s inability to control inflation and the prices of necessities like rice, he boasted that the minimum wage could purchase three bags of rice during APCโ€™s tenure in office unlike this current administration. He also stated that bag of rice only increased from Le 60 to Le 200 during their tenure.

Hon. Abdul Kargbo concluds that the Chief Minister should look for alternative policies from parliamentary hansards other than the opposition.

These remarks highlight the lack of cooperation between the two leading political parties in the current administration. What are your thoughts on the current state of politics in the nation, encompassing both the internal conflicts within the major political parties and the cross-party conflicts?
