Bai Mamoud Bangura seeks to resume his position at the APC party after being cleared of all treason-related charges.
Bai Mahmoud Bangura, the National Organizing Secretary of the All Peopleโs Party (APC), has conveyed a letter to the National Secretary General of the All Peopleโs Congress (APC) party, Lasana Dumbuya, Esq., requesting resumption of duty as the partyโs Organizing Secretary after the court ruling cleared him of all charges in relation to the November 26, 2023 coup attempt.
Following the November 26, 2023, failed coup incident, Bai Mamoud Bangura, along with 11 others, was detained and faced allegations for treason, misprision, harboring, and other charges in the High Court of Sierra Leone in connection to the attempted coup.
After several examinations and investigations, the High Court of Sierra Leone acquitted Bai Mamoud Bangura of all charges relating to treason. The decision was delivered by Justice Komba Kamanda as the all the evidence couldnโt hold him liable as alleged.
In the letter, Bai Mamoud affirmed that he has been acquitted of all treason-related charges, and his health is now stable and ready to resume his duty on Saturday, November 30, at 11 AM.
He concluded by expressing his hope for a functional Secretariat and a united party ahead of his return to office.
