The controversial Sierra Leone Bar Association Executive, led by Tuma Jabbie Kamara, issued a press release regarding the resolutions approved during their Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held on July 15, 2024.
One of the resolutions authorizes legal action against the purported ‘Caretaker Board’ appointed by aggrieved members of the association in contention of the May 18th SLBA election, in which Tuma Jabbie Kamara, Esq., emerged as president.
According to the press statement, the resolution aims to prevent Ms. Basita Michael, Emmanuel E. C. Shears-Moses Esq., and others of the ‘Caretaker Board’ from making any representations or public statements that could compromise the integrity of the Sierra Leone Bar Association.
Another resolution adopted at the EGM authorizes the filing of a formal complaint against Augustine Sorie-Sengbe Marrah, Esq., and Wara Serry-Kamal, who both contested for the SLBA presidency but are dissatisfied with the outcome of the bar association elections.
The press statement also outlines key strategic plans of the disputed Sierra Leone Bar Association Executive Body.
