The President of the Republic of Chad, Mohamat Idriss Deby has instructed his cabinet to suspend the issuance of visas to citizens of the United States of America. He based his directive under the ‘principle of reciprocity’.
He made this announcement via a Facebook post, where he strongly maintains that his country has pride and dignity.
“Chad has no planes to offer, no billions of dollars to give but Chad has his dignity and pride” he stated.
This decision came after U.S. President, Donal Trump signed a proclamation banning citizens of 12 countries from entering the United States, underscoring national security concerns.
The 12 countries affected by the ban include Chad, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea,Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya,Somalia,Sudan and Yemen.
In addition to the ban, U.S placed 7 other countries under ‘partial restrictions’ consisting of Sierra Leone,Burundi,Cuba, Laos, Togo, Turkmenistan and
Venezuela.
