The Lead Counsel for former President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma has welcomed the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice’s decision to discontinue the criminal charges against the former Head of State.
In a statement issued following the development, the legal team described the move as one that serves the interests of national peace, reconciliation, and social cohesion.
The counsel noted that Dr. Koroma has always respected the judicial process, cooperated with authorities, and complied with all bail conditions imposed during the proceedings.
With the discontinuation of the charges, the legal team said the former president’s bail obligations have been discharged, allowing him to return to Sierra Leone at a time of his choosing.
The counsel expressed hope that the matter has now been concluded and that Dr. Koroma will continue contributing to national peace, dialogue, and development.
