The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has officially commenced the eighth batch of the CAF ‘D’ Diploma Coaching Course at its Secretariat in Kingtom, Freetown.
The coaching development programme forms part of the SLFA’s continued efforts to strengthen the technical capacity of coaches across the country while developing a new generation of qualified coaches in line with Confederation of African Football (CAF) standards.
The one-week course brings together 35 participants from across Sierra Leone and will focus on strengthening coaches’ knowledge and practical understanding of modern football coaching.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, SLFA Technical Director John Edward Keister described the course as a continuous learning process designed to identify and address weaknesses in areas including organisation, technique, coaching education and awareness.
“The aim of this course is to equip our grassroots coaches with the fundamentals of coaching, build their competence, and ensure they are better prepared to nurture talents from the community level to the elite level,” Keister stated.
This is the eighth time the SLFA has organised the CAF ‘D’ Diploma Coaching Course, providing more local coaches with the opportunity to improve their knowledge, skills and coaching competencies.
The programme will combine theoretical and practical sessions, as well as internships, giving participants exposure to coaching methodologies and tools aimed at advancing their careers and contributing to the development of football in Sierra Leone.@42232564449533 @12674817613920
