The All People’s Congress (APC) National Secretary General, Lansana Dumbuya, has been sent on remand at the male correctional facility at Pademba Road Prison. He faces three charges relating to incitement, insulting language, and insulting behavior.
Dumbuya pleaded not guilty to all three counts when the matter came before Magistrate Court No. 1, presided over by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah.
State prosecutors Yusuf Issac Sesay and ABN Tailor Kamara requested an adjournment, while Dumbuya’s defense counsel sought bail. The case has been adjourned to 16 February 2026.
Observers described Dumbuya as serious but occasionally smiling in court. The courtroom was crowded with police, politicians, and members of the public, highlighting the high-profile nature of the case.
His remand comes amid rising political tensions between the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) and the opposition APC, sparking debates over freedom of political expression and dissent in the country.
