AMBASSADOR PATRICK MCMANUS VISITS SEND SALONE HEADQUARTERS, REAFFIRMS IRELAND’S COMMITMENT TO WOMEN’S DEVELOPMENT

Wednesday, November 12th, 2025, marked the official visit of the new Ambassador designate from Ireland to Sierra Leone, H.E. Amb. Patrick McManus, to the headquarters of SEND Salone in Kenema.

The visit aims to follow up on the impacts of some of the developmental activities that were initiated by his predecessor and to also familiarise himself with the work of SEND Salone.

During the engagement, the country director of SEND Salone, Joseph Ayamga, highlighted some key achievements made by SEND Salone over the years through the “More Than a Woman” project that was supported by Irish Aid Ireland in Sierra Leone, in which he said through this programme they are able to conduct a series of trainings for women on leadership, entrepreneurship, and other things.

On their part, some beneficiaries shared their testimonies on the impact they said SEND Salone has made in their lives through their mentorship programme they have conducted over the years.

The Irish ambassador, in his remarks, pledged their commitment to supporting women’s and girls’ development in Sierra Leone.
