Sierra Leonean Islamic singer, Alie Islam, has released his nasheed single titled My Shahadah, featuring Nigerian international Munsheed artiste, Kabir Vocal. The poem is currently streaming on all platforms, including apple music, spotify and audiomack.
The ‘Shahada’, which translates as ‘testimony’ from Arabic, refers to Islam’s first article of faith, professing God’s oneness and the prophethood of Muhammad, the last prophet according to Islam. The soul-searching poem invokes deep reflection, attributing everything to God and asserting that neglect of His worship could be disastrous.
The poem also calls for God’s guidance towards good and away from ‘Bandana’ – the street life and gangsterism.
Excerpts from the lyrics read:
“Allah you are the giver, Allah you made the rivers, Allah you’re the owner, who made my own mother.”
