Freetown Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr has confirmed that All Peoples Congress (APC) Mayors and District Council Chairpersons met with Vice President Dr. Juldeh Jalloh on Wednesday morning to discuss the country’s current political impasse.

In a post on her official social media account, Mayor Aki-Sawyerr stated that the meeting took place in response to an invitation from the Vice President.

“We discussed the current political impasse, highlighting issues relating specifically to the Local Councils,” she wrote.

The Mayor noted that the engagement occurred with the International Moral Guarantors present in the country. She expressed anticipation that the APC’s concerns will be addressed.

The meeting represents a rare high-level dialogue between senior APC local government officials and the office of the Vice President, as political tensions remain high over the implementation of electoral reforms and the APC’s continued boycott of governance structures.

Neither the Vice President’s office nor the APC national leadership had issued an official statement on the meeting at the time of reporting.
