The All Peoples Congress (APC) has strongly rejected the sentencing of Zainab Sheriff, describing it as deeply troubling, politically charged, and profoundly ill-timed — coming on the same day the Party held high-level engagement with International Moral Guarantors.
In an official statement, the APC said the sentencing represents a serious affront to the integrity of the State, directly contradicts the spirit of dialogue and good faith engagement, and undermines confidence in the ongoing mediation and reconciliation process.
The Party stated in the strongest possible terms that it rejects both the handling and outcome of the matter, and will escalate its position through all appropriate national, regional, and international mechanisms.
Separately, the APC described its engagement with the Moral Guarantors as substantive, frank, and a significant step forward in the Party’s pursuit of justice, transparency, and democratic integrity. The APC said it presented its position grounded in facts and credible evidence regarding the continued failure to implement the Agreement for National Unity, the Tripartite Committee Recommendations, and the erosion of electoral integrity.
The Party called on its members and supporters to remain calm, disciplined, and united, adding that it will announce the next line of action within the framework of law, strategy, and national responsibility.
“The struggle for democratic integrity requires patience, strength, and strategic action and not impulse,” the statement read. “The moment is ours.”
