On December 11, 2024, it was reported that about 150 Sierra Leoneans were forcibly deported from Guinea by Guinean authorities. This resulted in public discourses, including Sierra Leonean authorities, especially the law enforcement agencies, calling out the Guinea authorities for breaking international deportation protocols and violations of human rights against Sierra Leonean citizens in Guinea.

Concurrently, there have been reports that Fullahs, amongst other tribes that are illegal immigrants, are facing challenges with law enforcement authorities who are allegedly undertaking searches on undocumented immigrants.

The National Fullah Progressive Union, Sierra Leone, urges the government of Sierra Leone to release members of their ethnicity who have been arrested.

In addition to having a long-standing bilateral relationship , Sierra Leone and Guinea have been mutually reliant in a number of areas, including economic collaboration, security cooperation, and international trade. Problems like these will not benefit these two neighboring nations.
