Tamba Momoh, the former Deputy Auditor General to Lara Taylor-Pearce, has penned a response letter to the press release issued by the Office of the Press Secretary at the State House. The release announced the President’s decision to remove them based on the Tribunal’s recommendations following an investigation into their professional conduct in 2021.

In addressing his suspension as Deputy Auditor General, he highlighted allegations of professional misconduct related to the 2020 financial year audit of the office of the president. He maintained that he adhered to his mandate and professional ethics during his tenure at the Audit Service of Sierra Leone, citing significant audits he conducted.

Furthermore, he mentioned that his legal team objected to the Tribunal’s authority to investigate their professional conduct, emphasizing that the Tribunal lacked direct jurisdiction over him since he was not the Auditor General. He contended that only the Audit Service Board had the authority over him.

Tamba Momoh emphasized that despite his lack of confidence in the process, he cooperated fully throughout the proceedings via his legal representation. He confirmed his prior resignation as Deputy Auditor General before the Tribunal’s report reached the President. He expressed disappointment that the report was not shared with him or his legal team before the press release announced his impending removal.
