The recent collapse of a seven-story building in Shell has prompted citizens to be vigilant about potentially unsafe structures in the Freetown municipality.
This tragic incident occurred on September 16, 2024, at Kissy Bai Bureh Road, resulting in the deaths of approximately fifteen individuals, with eight survivors rescued and others still trapped under the rubble as of September 20, 2024.
Earlier, on July 21, 2024, a similar tragedy struck at SS Camp in Regent Village, where a four-story building collapsed, leading to fatalities, serious injuries, and significant property damage.
In response, residents of Freetown have called on the government and relevant agencies to take action to prevent future incidents. Many have turned to social media to share images and videos of buildings they believe pose a risk to public safety.
