US President Donald J. Trump has reportedly dismissed the deportation of the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, despite ongoing litigation questioning his immigration status.
The U.S. Heritage Foundation, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank, has reportedly filed a lawsuit against Harry, raising questions about his immigration status.
According to the organisation, he might have concealed previous illegal drug use, which would have prevented him from being granted a US visa.
In 2020, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle stepped down from their royal duties and relocated to Los Angeles, United States of America. This decision from both parties sent mixed reactions from people across the world.
In January 2023, the Duke of Sussex released a memoir titled “Spare”. In the book he details his childhood, the effect of the death of his mother, Princess Diana, and his relationship with his brother Prince William.
He further revealed in the book sensitive information about himself, including admitting to having taken drugs like cocaine, cannabis and psychedelics in the past.
Following this revelation, it triggered Heritage Foundation over Harry’s sincerity during his visa application since such an act, if known to the consulate, could have jeopardized his visa application.
The foundation went on to sue the Department of Homeland Security to release Harry’s visa records. However, a federal Judge ruled in favor of Harry by not releasing his records.
Harry’s Visa records are reportedly being apprehended by President Trump for further trial.
In an interview with the New York Post, a major news outlet in the United States, on Friday, 7 February, President Trump indicated categorically that he has no plans to deport Harry.
He added that Prince Harry “has got enough problems to handle with his ‘terrible’ wife,” alluding to Meghan Markle, with whom he has had loggerheads with.
