After the suspension of Lara Taylor-Pearce, the former Auditor General, and her deputy, Tamba Momoh, in November 2021, a tribunal was convened to investigate their conduct. The tribunal’s findings were submitted to the president in June 2024 after a two-year inquiry period.
On July 9, 2024, the government of Sierra Leone, through the Press Secretary’s office, issued a press release announcing the President’s decision to dismiss the suspended Auditor General, Lara Taylor-Pearce, and her deputy, Tamba Momoh. This decision was made in accordance with Section 137(7)(a) of the Constitution, granting the President the authority to remove the Auditor-General based on the recommendations from the tribunal’s report examining the Auditor General’s professional conduct.
