The National Public Health Agency and the Ministry of Health announced in a press release on December 1st, 2024, that they have obtained an “intermediate result” from an examination conducted at the 34 Military Hospital Infectious Disease Laboratory regarding the suspected Viral Hemorrhagic Fever (VHF) case from Kono.

According to the release, the results are yet to be determined because formalin for bodyย preservation was most likely used prior to sample collection.

Additionally, none of the contacts of the suspected fever have shown any symptoms. They also stated that all suspected contacts are being closely watched for 21 days, during which time they will be subjected to additional testing.

MOH and NPHA reassure the public of a swift response to any disease outbreak and encourage everyone to remain calm and rely on updates from official sources for accurate information.
