As Sierra Leone, Ghana, and other African countries face elimination from the African Cup of Nations 2025 qualifiers, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released the list of African countries qualified to participate in the 2025 African Cup of Nations in Morocco. The tournament is set to take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
A total number of twenty-four countries are listed by CAF to have qualified to participate in the 2025 AFCON in Morocco. The countries are as follows: Morocco (host), Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Algeria, DR Congo, Senegal, Egypt, Angola, Equatorial Guinea, Cote DโIvoire, Gabon, Uganda, South Africa, Tunisia, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mali, Comoros, Sudan, Benin, Tanzania, Botswana, and Mozambique.
The above mentioned nations pulled off incredible wins in the AFCON qualifiers’ elimination group round. In all, forty-eight (48) nations took part in the qualifying tournament. These nations were divided into twelve groups, labeled A to L. Each group consists of four competing nations, and only the two from each groups that perform the best in terms of goals and points will be selected to be among the twenty four countries eligible to compete in the 2025 AFCON tournament. In order to be eligible for the tournament, the teamsโ performances are evaluated using the standards established by CAF in Chapter 7 of the African Cup of Nations Regulations.
