The Sierra Leone Police acknowledged receiving a letter from Thomas Babadi and Madi Williams dated November 30, 2024, seeking a police presence for a scheduled rally on December 10th, 2024. Accordingly, the aim of the gathering is to put pressure on Sierra Leone’s Electoral Commission to provide precise polling station results from the June 2023 elections.
According to the police, after extensive discussions with the individuals about their plans for the gathering, it became apparent that their proposed action plans would jeopardize national stability.
The law enforcement officials underscore that occupying the ECSL headquarters is an illegal means to address electoral concerns and propose a more legal method.
They also stated that the letter conveyed by the individuals did not follow the required procedures for notifying police of public gatherings as outlined in the Public Order Act.
The police warn citizens to avoid engaging in illegal activities that will cause public disruption.
