Ballerina Michaella DePrince’s adoptive mother, Elaine ‘Mamma E’ DePrince, passes on at age 77.

A family representative, Jess Volinski, shared on a Facebook post that Elaine DePrince, the mother of the late ballerina Michaella Mabinty DePrince, died on September 11, 2024, less than twenty-four hours after the death of the 29-year-old ballerina.

The late mother reportedly had no knowledge of her daughter’s death before she passed away.

Jess Volinski made the announcement on an ‘Official Family Statement’ Facebook post, stating that the two deaths are unrelated and confirming that the mother passed away ‘During a routine procedure in preparation for surgery’. The cause of Michaella’s death is yet to be revealed.

Volinski’s‘ also made a clarification that Michaella died on the 10th of September, debunking the misinformation that the young Ballerina died on the 13th of September by some reports.

The late Ballerina, born Mabinty Bangura, lost her parents to the Sierra Leone Civil War. Elaine DePrince adopted her and renamed her Michaella Mabinty DePrince.
