Los Angeles, home to A-list Hollywood stars and significant US public figures, is apparently engulfed in a severe wildfire that has claimed lives and properties, forcing thousands of inhabitants to evacuate their homes.

On Tuesday, January 7 at approximately 10:30 a.m. (18:00 GMT), the fierce wildfire apparently began at Palisades on the Pacific Ocean and quickly spread across neighborhoods in Southern California, Los Angeles (LA).

In addition to destroying over 10,000 structures covering over 29,000 acres of land, the fire has reportedly killed 10 people, forced over 100,000 individuals to evacuate, and left over 450,000 people without electricity across the region.

Palisades: The largest and first to break out on Tuesday. It’s burning through nearly 20,000 acres in the Pacific Palisades, destroying more than 5,300 structures. It’s now 6% contained.

Eaton: Spanning nearly 14,000 acres in Altadena and Pasadena, it’s the only fire in the area to remain 0% contained.

Kenneth: The newest of the five fires, impacting about 960 acres in Los Angeles and Ventura counties. It’s now 35% contained.

Hurst: Fire officials are making some progress with the fire, which spans nearly 800 acres. It is contained by 37%.

Lidia: Nearly 400 acres are affected in the town of Acton. Fire officials have contained 75% of the fire.

Paris Hilton, the late Matthew Perry, Mandy Moore, Leighton Meester, and other major Hollywood personalities are among those who have lost their homes, according to media outlets in the United States.

U.S Firefighters are working hard on base and in the air in an effort to extinguish the fire.
