Donald J. Trump has been sworn in as the 47th president of the United States of America on January 20, 2025. He has served as the 45th President from 2017 to 2021.

While this marks JD Vance’s inaugural term as Vice President of the United States, this simultaneously ushers in President Trump’s second and final non-consecutive term in office.

The event took place inside the US Capitol in Washington, D.C. It is reported that the decision to host the event inside is due to the cold temperatures and strong winds, breaking the tradition of hosting the inauguration outside the capitol building. This is the second U.S presidential inauguration to be held indoors according to reports. 

High-profile politicians, corporate magnates, former presidents like Barrack Obama, the outgoing president Joe Biden, and Vice President Kamala Harris were among the prominent policymakers who attended the event.

In his inauguration speech, President Trump, who was elected with a landslide victory in November 2024, quickly announced the two-gender policy’s implementation. This will default to individuals who socially choose to be identified as a gender that they are not biological ascribed to.

“There are only two genders, male and female.” he states.

He also expresses his desire to uphold policy that encourages equality across all social life.

“This week, I will end the government policy of trying to socially engineer race and gender into every aspect of public and private life. We will forge a society that is color blind and merit based.”

In addition to rekindling discussions about the direction of American policy and government, President Trump’s inaugural address laid out a strong and assertive agenda for his second term, demonstrating his dedication to carrying out the ideas and vision he campaigned on.
